My name is Shannon and I'm a full-time student at Kent State majoring in Painting with a minor in Non-Profit Studies. I am an abstract artist and have recently been working primarily with oils. Most of my subject matter has been wholly based on the natural world, most specifically trees but also found animal bones, and focusing on the creation of movement, texture, and a slight mood through layering of composition and overlapping color.
At the beginning of the new year, I returned from traveling in Europe after completing a semester abroad in Prague through Kent State. I was able to visit 9 different countries over the course of five months and eat the most amazing food I've ever had! I've always had a love for travel, but find that each place I've gone from the Acropolis to the Cliffs of Mother to the Dnieper River has only made me appreciate Cleveland more.
I'm the office intern at Art House for the spring semester. I realized that wart I appreciate about Cleveland is only achievable through giving back to the community and that is the work of non-profits working with communities and community leaders that makes the great things about our city run. After I get my degree, I would like to work with a community arts organization such as Art House of a museum.
