Well, lucky for you, Cleveland has got you covered! Tonight, take a break. You’ve worked hard all week and you deserve it. Besides, you’re going to have to rest up because you have a busy weekend ahead of you.

On Saturday, if you haven’t been already, stop by the gallery @ Zygote Press during their open studio hours to check out the fabulous I *Heart* Letterpress show. If you’re really lucky, some pieces will still be for sale.
Saturday night: put on your party shoes and head over to MOCA for the annual Aids Taskforce ArtCares Benefit! Drinks, music, food and live and silent auctions. Don’t have your ticket yet? You might be out of luck–this year’s event is officially sold out! BUT, if you check out the line-up of fantastic artists participating, this won’t be your only opportunity to score some of their work. (Like this piece right here: it was donated by our very own Kristen Cliffel!!)

Sleep in Sunday, you did have a late night, after all. And then get ready for a party Sunday night at the B-Side Lounge in Cleveland Heights. Join Lake Erie Ink from 5-7pm for food, drinks, music, and really incredible readings by some of Cleveland’s best local writers.

Coming up: Screw Factory Artists’ Spring Open Studio Sale May 5th from 12-7pm. Haven’t checked out these artists yet? This is a great opportunity to wander one of Cleveland’s coolest upcycled warehouses and get a sneak peek in to the creative spaces of so many artists. While you’re there, pop in and say “hi” to Art House celebrities Gina DeSantis and Kristen Cliffel!

And, of course, it’s not too late to sign up for our newly posted summer classes!

Saturday, May 12th: The FANTASTIC MISS JANE is coming to Art House!!! Haven’t met Miss Jane yet? Now’s the time. Children 4-8 are invited to join her from 9:30-11am for stories, art projects and more!

June Summer Camps: Kids can come and learn to throw clay on the wheel, or try out one of our themed camps exploring the sea, space, and earth through art!

Adult Classes: Not a kid? Jealous that they get to have all the fun? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. There’s still time to to get in to Mark Yasechack’s Polymer Clay Jewelry workshop (with wine!) on Thursday, April 26th.  Also, be sure to check out our clay and oil pastel classes for adults and teens.

And this month, NEO is serving up plenty of art-pertunities for all of us to soak in as well! Here at Art House Inc., the printmakers had their first printastic class last night: stay tuned for photos. Meanwhile, the ever popular Gina DeSantis is winding down the first session of her wheel throwing class. The second session is already FULL but, never fear! If you are interested in taking a wheel throwing class, call Art House and ask to be wait-listed. Enough interest just might generate whole new class! It’s not too early to sign up for the next Sippin’ in the Studio (March 29th) or the second session of Melinda Placko’s mixed media class (begins March 22nd). Or, why not go ahead and reserve a spot for the kids in one of the upcoming children’s weekend workshops (April 7th)?

What to do while you’re waiting for your next class to begin? Well…I would start by heading down to the Sculpture Center on E.123rd Street this Friday night for the opening of two shows: in-between and promise, it’ll only take a minute to stop. Take it easy Saturday morning but stop by Art House around 1pm for our monthly Family Open Studio–as always, it’s FREE!! And, I’ll break from tradition here and recommend a big fish for a change: Sunday, stop by the Cleveland Museum of Art. Like so much in Cleveland, our art museum is an underutilized gem. In addition to having one of the best permanent collections in the country, the Rembrandt exhibit now on display is stunning. See ya out there!

Didn’t know that Art House Inc. could design and implement an art event for your workplace, class, or group? Check out the Studio Go section of our website for more information. We can bring the program to you or host it in our studio. It’s a great way to thank employees or members of your organization, break the ice or build teamwork and trust while having a great time. Programs can be as short as one hour or run several days. We can build projects around a theme or in one specific medium, or create a range of activities to let the creativity flow. You tell us what you want and we guarantee an inspired solution. So, what are you waiting for?

Give your drawing hand a rest this weekend, though, and saunter yourself and your family over to Zygote Press for a show by Noel Reifel and his students. Fellow Travelers opens this Friday night from 6-9pm. While you’re there, be sure to get Liz Maugans to give you a tour of the shop and ZPASS–their new resident artists loft upstairs!

Then on Saturday, catch CIA alum and instructor Christie Birchfield at William Busta Gallery on Prospect from 2-4pm (and then again at SPACES for an artist talk on March 1st).

On Sunday, stay in and get to work on those postcard designs–you only have until March 15th!! Happy art-ing And stay tuned for more from Arthouse Inc! While you’re there, check out the studio space and see what else we have on offer. Two of our ceramics classes are already in session but we have drawing & painting, teen, kids and (drum roll) PRINTMAKING classes coming up! See what you could be learning in that March class including some of the basics of linocut, monoprinting, contact paper silk screening, and freezer paper stencils. See you in the studio on February 18th!!

Thursday, January 19th: Tonight! Spaces Gallery is hosting a viewing of videos from The Vault (the walk-in safe that has been converted to their video screening room) from 6:30-8pm. $5 at the door, $2 if you can correctly answer cat trivia questions, or FREE for SPACES’ members. Friday, January 20th: Zygote Press opens “Collected Gems II: Zygote Members Collect”, a truly beautiful show of original prints collected by (and many created by) Zygote members. Reception from 6-9pm.
MOCA Cleveland opens “8501 to 11400 (On Moving)” to celebrate the last show in their old space before they move to their new location. Zygote’s own Corrie Slawson will be debuting an incredible installation directly on the glass wall inside the gallery–a first for MOCA!
The Sculpture Center opens a slew of new works by artists Lauren Yeager, Scott Stibich, and Linda Ding. Opening reception begins at 5pm with artist talks at 6:15 and 7pm.
78th Street Studios hosts their monthly Third Friday open studios from 5-9pm.

Saturday, January 21st: Take a break! You deserve it. Do a load of laundry, have a glass of wine and catch up on those Celebrity Wife Swap episodes you missed (I am not even going to link that, you are on your own there).

Sunday, January 22nd: the Dragonfly Restaurant and Lounge opens “upLIFT, an homage”, new works by artist Liz Maugans. Enjoy great food and great art from 5-7pm. The perfect way to round out the weekend in our fair city.
