Clay on the Wheel

Details: Sooth your mind by throwing bowls and cups on the pottery wheel. If you are more advanced, try plates, lidded vessels or teapots. Classes are small to allow for individual instruction and to provide every student the opportunity to delve into their creative side. All clay and glazes are food, microwave, and dishwasher safe.
Ceramic Handbuilding
Instructor: Mark Yasenchack
Date: Feb. 7 – March 6 (5 weeks)
Time: Tuesday, 7:30 – 9:30 pm

Details: Clay is an incredibly versatile material, encompassing a rich history and a diverse range of applications. In this class, venture beyond the usual pinching, coiling and slab-building by learning new techniques with which to manipulate clay. Beginners will develop strong fundamentals; advanced students will unlock fresh creative possibilities.CLASS FULL
Printmaking Exploration
Instructor: Kate Snow
Date: March 7 – April 4 (5 weeks)
Time: Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30pm
Class Fee: $125 (5 student minimum/ 10 student maximum)

Details: Who says you’re not an artist? The motto for this intro to Printmaking class is “No Experience? No studio? No Problem!” In this class we’ll cover a variety of printmaking techniques that can be re-created right in your own home—no press required! From fine art to great gifts, we’ll experiment with some of the basics of linocut, monoprinting, contact paper silk screening, and freezer paper stencils. All skill levels welcome.
Drawing & Painting Classes
Session I: Fundamentals of Drawing
Instructor: Melinda Placko
Date: Feb. 2 -March 8 (6 weeks)
Time: Thursdays, 6:30-8:30pm
Class Fee: $120 (5 student minimum)

Details:Fun of draw: Practice drawing from observation in the unique atmosphere of the Art House Studio. Professional artist? Beginner? ALL skill levels and ages are welcome. We will improve our drawings with attention to line, value, mass, texture, and composition. Create drawings in series using graphite, charcoal, and sumi ink. Includes rotating library, collaborative experiences, and great music .

Session II: The Art of Collage
Instructor: Melinda Placko
Date: March 22 – April 26 (6 weeks)
Time: Thursdays, 6:30-8:30pm
Class Fee: $120 (5 student minimum)

Details: cut n paste: PAPER! In Vivid color or dirty white, torn from a magazine or trimmed with precision, a picture of an old man or a sleeping buffalo? Choose what sticks to you during this in-depth exploration of collage. Study historical approaches in the library, and learn a variety of methods in the studio. Leave with a growing sensitivity to paper collage. Melinda has made collages for over 15 years, and is a member of the Intrnational Union of Mail Artists.
Pre-teen and Teen Drawing Class (ages 9 – 15)
Instructor: Melinda Placko
Date: Feb. 8 – 29 (4 weeks)
Time: Wednesday, 6:00-7:30pm
Class Fee: $60 (5 student minimum)
Registration Deadline: Feb. 1
Details: All materials are up for grabs in this pre-teen/teen class! Empty the supply chest and join us as we draw with a wide variety of dry and wet media. Combinations of charcoal, ink, pencil, gouache and collage will be explored. There will be directed assignments and open drawing time, individual and collaborative drawing experiences and an in-class library. Come and create mixed media collages and practice freedom of material.

To hold your spot in a class, a form of payment is required at the time of enrollment. Please read registration terms and conditions below:

ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS APPLY FOR CREDIT CARD REGISTRATION OVER THE PHONE. PLEASE CONTACT ART HOUSE WITH ANY QUESTIONS.
• All students must register for classes and programs directly with Art House. Full payment must be received at time of registration.
• After the 1st meeting for the class/program full fees are non-refundable except for illness. Refunds due to illness require a letter from a medical provider.
• Art House has the right to cancel classes/programs due to lack of enrollment. Art House will reimburse those students who have paid for classes.
• Art House staff will contact students directly to notify of class cancellation and/or changes due to lack of enrollment.
• 80% of tuition is refundable from time of registration until the 1st meeting of class unless class in cancelled due to lack of enrollment.
• Makeup classes/programs will only be scheduled if a teacher cancels or due to inclement weather.
• In the event of bad weather please contact Art House for information on cancellations. Art House will reschedule any cancelled classes/programs due to bad weather in cooperation with the instructor.
• Students will not be offered make up classes if the student cannot attend.
• You will not be contacted for confirmation prior to class start date.
• Wheelchair accessible entrance and restrooms.
• Parent/Adult Student agrees to permit Art House to use photographs and/or video for public relations and media use related to Art House only.
