The Short and Sweet planning committee began meeting in September to plan the 2013 event. We had decided to have another one at our after action dinner meeting in the spring. We held our first planning meeting at Art House in September. At that meeting, Art House Executive Director Amy Craft suggested we take advantage of AH’s newly renovated studio by expanding “The Shop”.
After about 30 seconds of silence, a few logistics questions, and another few seconds of silence, the decision was made-let’s do it. Between returning artists, suggestions by thecommittee, and new artists inquiring about Short and Sweet, will have approximately 30 artists joining us for the first two weekends of December when the Short and Sweet Holiday Shop will again touch down in the heart of Brooklyn Centre.
We will again be selling the Brooklyn Centre Naturalists cookbook “A Taste of All Seasons”, many book selections by local publisher Gray and Company, and Brooklyn Centre Historical Society’s “Reflections From Brooklyn Centre”.
Art House will be selling clay tiles and Urban Bright Denison School students will be selling ornaments to raise money for an “art themed” field trip.
Several food vendors, ceramic artists, jewelers, knitters, and crocheters, have joined our artists and artisans from last year to create a variety of unique and handmade gifts for everyone on your list.
This year Short and Sweet Kid’s Corner is a place for children to shop for Mom, Dad, grandmas and grandpas or create a holiday.
